Portable Air Conditioners

I want to get a portable air conditioner. How do I know what btu would be best to get? Do you have any reccomendations on what brand to get?

To clarify, I’m not referring to a ‘window unit.’ I plan on purchasing a portable air conditioner for a bedroom, but I do not want to vent out the window, for security reasons. So, I’m wondering if I can cut a whole in the ceiling and feed the exhaust hose into the attic? Thanks.

I just bought a portable air conditioner with 2 hoses. my question is, would i have to take off the screen so it vents better? my dad said i wouln’t have to take off the window screen because mosquitos can get in at night.

We have 2 portable a/c and I’m just wondering at what temp they need to be serviced? Also, does a regular hvac company service portable units?
Where do they add refrigerant?

My air went out of my jeep and I am wondering if I can buy a device to take its place. I don’t really want to spend 900 dollars to get mine fixed.

I have a 1965 Plymouth that did not come with factory air I would prefer to not spend 00 installing an a/c and the parts needed to go with it.

I bought a portable AC unit with a hose that is supposed to go out the window, but the problem is that I have a basement window and not a sliding window. It pulls open and you either tie it up or put some sort of a stick in there to keep it open. I don’t know how to effectively seal up the window to keep the room cool with the way the window opens. Anybody had this problem or think they know how to solve this problem? I need help!

I live at home with my mom and step dad and they leave the thermostat on 84 all day!!!!!! I need something I can plug into an outlet in my room and set to whatever I want. I’d like to keep my room about 78 or whatever. Anyway, which is the best portable air conditioner?

Its ok if it uses my battery as long as it doesn’t kill the battery. Opening the window is not good enough. It gets up to 95-100 degrees where I live.

What is the smallest portable air conditioner on the market? I have found a Mistral one, but is there another brand I can look at? It is to cool one room in my home office. I already have an evaporative cooler which is not effective enough, but I don’t need a wall mounted split system. I was trying to find something slim and small. I live in Australia, so we may be limited on brands here.

We turned our 3rd floor into a bedroom. Is there an effective portable air conditioner available that does not have to be vented? The windows do not open. I’ve read that the ones that take water and ice packs do not work.

This Model is Amana AP125HD, no where in the owner’s manual does it say whether or not I have to use the exhaust vents while operating the heating unit, it only states that I need to use the exhaust vent when operating in Air Conditioner mode. I read so much stuff about the dangers of carbon monixide poisioning with respect to unvented heaters that it got me thinking.

Casement windows were just installed in my room and unfortunately, I don’t have an Air Conditioner hole in the wall anymore. I do have a portable Air Conditioner someone gave me. Seeing how the summers are going to be insanely hot, is there a way i could use the portable AC in my room?

Also, can i just leave the vent pipes inside my room, like on a bowl or something to catch the water coming out?

We have had the Everstar 10,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner for about 2 years. We usually have to wake up in the middle of the night to empty the water out of it and now it isn’t producing ANY water. It feels like it is over heating and not producing the cold air it has in the past. It was a lot of money and I hope I don’t have to get it fixed. Please Help… It’s hot!!!

I’ve searched online and found large units that sit on the floor but still need access to the window. Are there any products that cool a room that don’t need to have ANY access to a window and is reasonable in price, and possibly reasonably sized?
