Whats the Largest Portable 120v Portable Airconditioner?
ive got a 9000btu one but its not good enuff its been 103 here all week and it hardly the begining of summer and it will only drop my room like 10degrees and i gotta keep it under 85 to keep my hdtv xbox and computers happy. Ive got a 120v 20amp gfci outlet off of a 20amp afci breaker so i can go up to 20amps …. dose any one make a 20amp 120v portable air conditioner …. i would get a window unit but the home owners association says no ac’s out windows on front of house

I picked up a Haier 7000 BTU portable air conditioner off ebay. It was only used 1 summer and looks new. How long do these things generally last.

I live in an apartment and am looking for a more economical way to cool my apartment. I work alot and am only home at night and on the weekends. And my central air is really old. I did the math and I am only looking at about -40 more per month with this than the extra hundred I run with the central air.

I figure if I get 3-4 years out of it, it would definitely be worth it.

I would most likely only run it about 4-5 hours per weekday and about 10hours/day on the weekend.

Portable air conditioner now is being used more and more than before, you must have yr choice of the brand name, with the inner reason for yr choice, would you like to share that with us?

i am looking for a portable air conditioner that does not have a window exhaust – i prefer those w/ a plug so that i don’t have to worry about leaving my window open. if you have any ideas, please forward them to me.

I have a Danby Products portable air conditioner with both an in-take and exhaust hose.

Is it necessary that the in-take be attached?

I understand that it can be great to have a fresh air option, but when the temperature outside is 95, it seems silly to bring it inside the room.

Any thoughts?

I’m thinking about getting a portable air conditioner, but don’t have anywhere to put the extraction hose. The hose should be put out a window or door. Can I face it to a drain. What’s your ideas.

I live in Southern California on the second floor of an apartment complex. There is one wall mounted AC in the living room, but it doesn’t even begin to reach my room when turned on full blast. I need to get a portable ac for my bedroom (relatively small in size) since the window configuration does not allow a traditional window mounted unit. Of all the ones I’ve looked into, the only fault customers have consistantly complained about is that a tray of some sort needs to be placed under the air conditioner to collect the water removed from the air, and it tends to spill all over the floor when trying to drain.

Is there a model that would allow the draining of the water through a tube connected to the window in small amounts (I don’t want to rain down buckets of water on people walking down below), or maybe even an innovative new design that bypasses the need to collect and empty condensate all together?

i got sharp 10000 btu cv-p10nc. i wonder how much electricty will it waste and the other portable air conditioner also?

I have a new portable air conditioner Fujitronic FA9000 is working fine but I found out my carpet is wet under it. I checked the drain plugs and they are tight the water full ligth is off and can’t find where or what is the problem. The company is closed on sunday and tomorrow will be a hot day. What can I do to fix this Now whit out having to turn it off and burn.

I just bought a Danby 7,000 BTU portable air conditioner. The manuel says to connect the flexible exhause hose collar to the exhaust opening on the back of the unit. There is no picture of what the exhaust opening looks like. The only openings I see on the back of the unit are the power cord storage and the air filter cover. I tried calling the 800 number for Danby but there is no live person to speak to. PLEASE HELP!!

I have a portable air conditioner that will make a noise after it drains. The best way to describe the noise is like a choo choo (not as loud obviously). I am not sure what it could be it is properly vented and if drains it’s water. Any suggestions?

I have a 8,000 BTU portable air conditioner, and when the compressor turns on all the lights dim.

I looked in the circuit breaker and its on a 15a fuse, which for some reason is wired into the kitchen lights/fans, as well as one of the bedrooms lights/outlets and half the outlets in a second bedroom.

lots of computers, tv’s, and other equipment are plugged into these outlets so it would be difficult to get the air conditioner on its own circuit.

Is there anything else I can do?

I am looking for a portable air conditioner. But one that actually works and really cools down my room. I have come across some really bad ones and it was not always correlated to the price. So if possible I do not want it to cost too much. I also do not know what BTU stands for.

I have a portable air conditioner, one of those air conds that are on wheels and look like R2D2. The problem is its quite noisy. It may sound crazy but as a last ditch effort I’m considering building an egg carton box around it but getting the dimensions right ie lining up the air vent is the big challenge. Can anyone suggest how this could be done? I’ve also looked at sound proof foam but have heard repeatably that egg cartons are the best.

I just moved into an apartment without a/c and I’m thinking of buying a portable air conditioner. I was wondering if anyone whose used it could tell me how they liked it compared to a regular (window or central) a/c. Also, what should I pay attention to when buying one?

hi, I recently bought a portable Haier air conditioner. It’s 7000 btu and operates at 800W. I also like to double up the air conditioner as a fan when it’s not so hot but would like to know if I will still be using as much power. If the machine is only running as a fan with no cooling turned on, will it use (significantly?) less wattage and therefore less electricity? Does anyone know how the power consumption is compared to a conventional fan? Thanks.

Why do you have to add water to a portable air conditioner? My instruction manual says about 1.5 quarts, but it doesn’t say why, or if you ever have to add more. Does it disappear? Do you have to fill it up regularly?

One thing also it says you have to empty water from the bottom as it accumulates – I live in a very dry climate and have never once had to empty the water in the past 2 months. Is this normal?

I have a Delonghi PAC 290 u portable air conditioner. It has worked great for several years but has begun to gather some sludge and blue-green gunk in the bottom tray and entering into the machine itself.
