Portable Air Conditioners

I am looking to buy a portable air conditioner for the bedroom in my apartment since the window won’t allow me to install that kind of unit. What is the purpose of the exhaust kit that comes with it? Do these units emit carbon monoxide? I know it’s probably a silly question but I don’t want to wake up to find my cats dead. Thanks in advance.

I have seen "swamp coolers" but I want an actual transportable air conditioner that doesn’t require external venting (temporarily). Is this possible?

I have a portable AC in my bedroom. I have it vented through my window to blow the hot air outside. If I take the tube off, it will still blow cold air through the front and the hot air blows out the back straight up in the air. I ask because I would pike to keep the window closed and sealed shut eliminating outside noises.

I am planning to buy a portable air conditioner (cooler) to replace my window type air conditioner.

I live on rental place and recently bugth a Portable AC my windows are the ones that open and close like a door tall and narrow, I need to find a way to install the exhaust vent without cutting the window or bord it with wood and nails (landlord does not allow this) Have any ideas how to do it? There are glass panels on the windows but I don’t know how to take them off without breaking them.

One of those that you can plug into your wall and it will air condition your room but NOT a air cooler.

I have a central heating and a/c unit, but at night, I only need to cool one room. In the deep south, the energy costs can be astronomical for A/C. Will a portable unit save me money in the end, or should I just let the central unit do all the work?

I’m looking for an air conditioner that’s small, portable, and not too expensive. Not a window unit, but not one of the 4′ tall R2D2-looking units either. It will be used only during power outages with a generator to keep a small room cool for my pets. I’d like it to look like a fan or something but not too obtrusive.

Is there anything like this on the market?

Basically I need to know if I can get a portable AC with out the vent hoses.

I mean two portable A/C of the same brand, with one having a 9000btu while another 12000 btu.

Will the one with the higher btu produce a higher dB?

My room is the hottest room ever for some reason. Im looking for an air condition that wouldn’t make too much noise but would still make the room cold and comfortable.

I just purchased LG 9,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, model # LP0910WNR.

I’d like to know what it will cost to run this unit for 8 hours, or a month or whatever.

I can’t find its energy efficiency ratio anywhere.

Anyone have an idea?

I was thinking of getting one for my bedroom for the summer, because my house is sweltering hot and sometimes the air gets so thick I can barely breath. I am asthmatic BTW. I am not familar with portable AC’s as this is very new to me. Anyway, How does a portable AC work? What is the cheapest I can get one? I am a college student only have a summer job and that doesn’t pay much. So something budget friendly, please

I have been looking to cool my bedroom down for the summer. So far I found a model called an Omega Altise APC12. I think it is 3.5kw?. Anyway, just a bit worried about the potential cost of running this over the summer – and whether or not I can go to a less powerful model (i think you can get 2.x kw models). It is just for a bedroom, however I would not want to spend e.g. 500 on an aircon of 2+kw, to find that had I spent 600 I would actually have an effective air conditioner.

I am looking to know if it is a good model air conditioner, or if I will be spending a fortune to cool my room & whether or not it will do it (or would a 2+kw model be suitable).

I know that permanant aircons are better for the money and efficiency, but portable is my only option.

I live in a apartment on the second floor. We have a tiny air conditioner in our living room but our bedroom still stay really hot. I’ve heard of these protable air conditioners but I dont know a lot about them. How do they work do I haev to take out our screen to use the air conditioner or what?

I have a portable air conditioner for my living room apartment I have no windows to place a window unit. I was wondering my heater is out side the apartment if I connect the exhaust of the my portable air conditioner to one the living ducts and closed off the vents in all the rooms would that be safe from my air conditioner or will cause it to break faster?

Ok so I have been thinking of buying a solar panel, and hooking up a portable window air conditioner to it for my bedroom. I figure this would keep my bedroom cold, and I could bump up the AC to cut down on my electric bill. What kind of wattage would I need from the solar panel, to cover the electricity needs for the portable window unit?

iI have a portable air conditioner but no users guide. It stopped cooloing and i was told to add water to it. Where do i add the water?

He pays the electric, i offered to pay more to cover the cost. It gets 95 in our apartment and heat is really bad. Its a energy efficient portable air conditioner so all that is needed is a hose out the window. Whats the big deal if I pay the extra?

The window that I currently have is rather small. It’s height is about 22 inches. I’ve been looking up specifications on portable air conditioners and I am realizing that the window kits are all too big for my window. What should I do? It is very hot where I live right now and I cannot take the heat any longer. I can’t get a regular air conditioner either.

Central air is not an option. And there are some problems with using window units. The house is in Los Angeles in the hills, and is small but all glass facing southwest, so it gets HOT.

If I was to buy a portable air conditioner would it save more money on hydro than a regular one?
